There was a nail-biting finish to the tournament when Howell's faced their rivals The Grange, Monmouth. A board one win for Shayanna against Michael Burger in a time scramble sealed the title for the girls!

Coach Kevin Thomas: “This is a fantastic result from a very young team. Very well done also to Neya, Venetia, Jessica, Emily, Shermin & Susanna. The girls were clearly playing for each other & this bodes well for the Welsh Schools’ Championships in April. As a recognition of winning the Zone, Howell’s will be presented with an inscribed Chess Clock by the English Chess Federation.”

Good luck to the girls in the Semi-Final !
