Welsh Chess Union

The Welsh Schools Chess Championships were held in Bishop Hedley High School. There were no girls involved in the Secondary Schools event but there were some great performances in the Primary Schools Championships and Plate Cup competition.

The girls from Howell’s School came Jnt 3rd in the Primary Schools Championships.

Rougemont won the Primary School Plate Cup and Anna-Lena Barth played on board 3.

There was also success for Sandycroft Primary all the way from North Wales who came Jnt 2nd in the Plate Cup Competition and they had 2 girls in the team.

Shana Taylor  Bd 4 and Katie Latham Bd 2   Shana’s sister Macey was also their reserve

 
St Pauls A came 4th in the Plate Cup and they had Megan and Eve in their team.

It was excellent to see lots of girls in their school teams.

Inglefield House had Stephanie du Toit, Amy Hughes, Mary Racz and Ellie Jones.

Lauren Shepperd and Skye Norman played for Kings Monkton, Saskia Stokes and Samiya Abdilahi played for the St Pauls C team.

Well done to all the girls who took part and don’t forget there are other junior events you can play in.  : )
