The South Wales Winter Congress was held in the 'Best Western' Heronston Hotel, Ewenny Road, Bridgend.

There were 3 sections - Open, Major/U1800 and Minor/U1500. The Under 18 Girls Championships which was scheduled to run alongside the congress has been postponed due to lack of entrants and so it will be incorporated into the Summer Congress.
The rate of play was 40 moves in 100 minutes and 20 minutes to finish the game, and the event was controlled by Kevin Staveley.
