National Youth Chess Association 2010

The National Youth Chess Association U16 and U12 was held in Madeley, Telford
At the recent N.Y.C.A. County Championships our Under 12 team came joint second out of ten teams. This is their highest ever placing in this competition and only bettered by the U.16 team sharing first place over ten years ago.
The final scores out of 48 were: Sussex 34.5, South Wales 34, Greater Manchester 34, Kent 27.5, Cheshire and North Wales 24.5, Lancashire 24.5, Yorkshire 23.5, Warwickshire 23.5, Berkshire 21.5,Staffordshire 16.5.

Our reserve, Rhydian Downing, was also joint winner of the reserves tournament !
On the same day our U.16 team came seventh out of eleven. This was quite a good result, as a Cardiff junior team containing several strong U.16 players was participating in a tournament in Oxford on the same day.
